Family owned and Operated
Mission Hills Health Care was built in the early 1960's by Laura Grey, a nurse and nursing home administrator originally from Canada. Laura was a very successful business woman as well, a very unique characteristic for a woman of her day, and owned several other similar homes in the San Diego area. Laura and her husband, Bill, owned and operated Mission Hills Health Care for almost 10 years until Laura sold it upon Bill's passing in the mid 1970's.
In 1989, Laura's niece and her husband, Leah and Patrick Higgins, purchased Mission Hills Health Care and brought it back under Laura's family's ownership. At this time the Higgins family gave the home it's current name of Mission Hills Health Care. They have owned and operated it ever since, with Patrick acting as the Administrator. Leah has served off and on as the Dietary Supervisor as well. In 2007, after earning a Master's Degree in Public Health from Tulane University, their
daughter Stephany joined the team as the Assistant Administrator. In 2012 Stephany's husband, Dave, joined the team as the Maintenance Supervisor and to help oversee the renovation of the building.
Currently, the staff of Mission Hills Health Care is peppered with many long term employees, many of whom have brought their own relatives to stay with us as well.
Our family's business is caring for your loved ones and we hope to open our doors to you and your family for your short term and long term care needs!
